Re: [Released]Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R : Skinpack for Skyline
« Reply #226 on: April 26, 2008, 04:58:08 AM »
I made a Skin pack for this car. I'll work on the texture bugs a little later. :P

EDIT : I'll make more skin variations, any ideas anyone?

EDIT 2 : I found a real cop skyline through Google. I'll replicate it.

The last Image doesn't really look like an R32 Skyline but, It looks like an R34 to me.

I should have said this a long time ago: This car is right hand drive... you can't get it left hand drive. And Zipppy, could you make a purple with some vinyls on the side?

That is R34. R32 has round tail lights too but they are both same sized, where r34 has smaller lights inside and bigger outside. and R33.. Well it has actually 3 tailights.
Have a look...

(Yes, i'm GT-R enthusiast...)

R34 Jap. Copcar

Even though they seem to be quite same cars and have lot in common, they are really different cars. where r32 was lightest AWD GT-R with 1430kg and R34 had hefty 1540kg, r33 placed in middle with 1530kg. R33 and R34 shared basically same body so R34 is usually considered as "facelift" where R32 has differend body and it weights less. The newer the models (R33 & R34) also have better gearbox that can handle a bit more powerabuse and some other minor upgrades. R32 is known for stock gearbox troubles when going over 600hp as it may get stuck on 3rd gear. They're all Japanese GR. A Homologation models, so they had to have strong components as GR. A was for "stock cars", and the gearbox(and almost all engine parts) had to be exactly same on racecar as on-road model.
Petrolhead, speedfreak, powernut and probably future adrenaline junkie. Only thing missing is a total lack of respect for the law...

Thanks!

It was actually pretty easy...

Rough guide:
1. Use new autouid at http://rigsofrods.com:8080/ to make a clean copy
2. Open skin in Photoshop and color->white (not completely trivial on the Strider, but easy on the Skyline)
3. Open truck file in editorizor to get roof nodes
4. Ref/X/Y would be front-right, rear-right, and front-left
5. copy lightbar from another car so I can get the position right
6. put in beacons, spread out across the right axis

Yeah, it's a little more work than that, but that's really it. Took me about 15 mins or so for each of the two...

I love this car. I added power and upped the redline to simulate a racing version. It drifts beautifully. I'm modifying a mesh from the sketchup warehouse to work, but I found lots of problems with the mesh so it might be a while until you see it in screenshots.
