I honestly believed it couldn't be done in a good working manner...
Donken made a basic concept and showed it to me, from there we both worked on it and we ended up with this rather awesomely working thing.

is it driven by rotators or?  it was tempting to try to make a tank with tracks but i knew it would stress me out to much, lol.  Great work

OMG this is so cool.  A quick ? do the tracks get the same amount as traction on the ground as tires do

From what I've noticed tracks get way more traction.

You and donken are now demigods. I knew tracks could be done, but this is SO SIMPLE! I never even dreamed it would be this easy. Only one question: Can the tracks function without the shock-triangle-things on top? If they can, someone REALLY ought to make one of these.

yes it does work without the shocks. the shocks is just there for better stability, the tracks is jumping around in higher speeds without it ;)

and here is pics without it it:

So am I correct in the following:

The tracks function similarly to how the boom on the crane does, they are guided along by the "wheels".

And the "wheels" are driven by a rotator, like on the base of the crane?

the wheels are rotators yes. and what you mean about the crane boom thingy i dont understand xD the tracks are only 4 nodes in a square each with 100% transperant submesh. and to hold the tracks in place sideways i have done side fenders that covers the hole inside and outside. so the tracks can only go around the wheels =) it uses alots of cheating and transperant submesh ;)

From what I've noticed tracks get way more traction.

that means the game has a very accurated  way of traction (only on some parts it may be better, smal fixes)

Well yes, it's logical since there's almost twice the amount of nodes constantly in contact with the ground compared to wheels.
