Nice theme you've got there

For the first error, try opening the Configurator and disable Vegetation, then click Save and play.
If that doesn't work, try downloading this file (at the bottom of this post) to My Documents\Rigs Of Rods\Config, and try RoR again.
I'm not sure about the second message, it's something about a certificate being invalid. Are you sure you're downloading DirectX from the Microsoft website?

(If the RoR.cfg I've posted works, you might need to fiddle with your graphics, since this will set everything to high)

Thanks for the theme comment - I'm on vista too and I was expecting it to take forever to do but it was really easy haha.

Yeah I'm downloading it from the proper Microsoft website and now I have a new error: missing file d3dx9_38.dll.

This is proving to be harder than it looks haha.

Hmm. Try downloading d3dx9_38.dll from here (Perfectly safe site, I've used it a lot) http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3dx9_38
Open the .rar file if it's in one, and place it somewhere on your computer. Then try running RoR again, and tell me what it says if it still doesn't work.

You have this file missing, put it to C:\Program Files\Rigs Of Rods

I couldn't actually find a button to use to post a new subject, but I figured this is the proper place to do so:

My PC Specs:

Pentium 4, 3.00Ghz
2.00gb of ram
128mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

this thing can run Half-Life 2 on full settings without even a flutter, yet I can't get the game to even start.

- I downloaded the newest install file I could find (file is named RoR 36.2 Setup) , and got through the download process fine; Upgraded my DirectX, and Windows Visual stuff that it asked me to, and restarted. I left default settings on, minus the settings for hyperthread/dual/normal cpu, which i set to Normal. When I tryed to start the game, it looked like it tryed to load a menu, but instead it hung up on a rectangular blue shape, with no letters on it.

- Restarted system via the button on the machine (normal methods couldn't be used...this thing was HUNG), and tryed again. Switched every setting I could down to the lowest possible, and set the window to not display on a full screen. This time it froze on the same screen, but with the words (which said something about loading vehicles, files 0 of 46, etc).

Not sure what I could really do at this point, I've uninstalled and re0installed twice now, and still nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't be surprised if the problem was the graphics card (or heat.).
Radeon 9800's are really old, they've been out since 2002. Even I got rid of my Radeon 9 series in early 2007.
Usually this problem's related to the cache being empty, but since you say it hard-crashes, it's probably down to you having a very low end computer.

That's what I was afraid of...I would just throw a new graphics card in here, but I don't know enough about computers to determine if my motherboard could handle an upgrade to the graphics or not. Here's hoping to winnin the lotto

If your motherboard supports PCI-Express, then it should be fine for a new gpu, although make sure your power supply can handle it.
The graphics would also give a bit of a FPS increase in RoR, but you'd probably be best with a fast dualcore/quadcore processor.

i would put this in the major bugs only but the LOG thing never came up so couldn't put it in

I can't run the game at all. There is nothing useful in the logs, as it never gets as far as writing the log itself.

Open the Configurator, make sure the box that says Dust isn't ticked.

I'm running Win7 x64, and I cannot even open the config exe to see all the settings. Where can I find all of the files that were left behind during uninstall, so that I can do a "fresh" install, so to speak.

I pretty much have the same problem as some of the people here, it was working about 4hrs ago, then it suddenly stopped working, when i tried to open RoR.exe and/or rorconfig.exe i get 2 seperate messages.... after that, i tried a complete fresh install, updated DirectX and runtime library.... still same problem, and when i try to "update" it also has an error.....

Can you attach your configlog.txt and RoR.log? They're in My Documents\Rigs of Rods\Logs.

Use the new installer http://wsync.rigsofrods.com/binary/win32/beta/installer.exe and try again please.

well i downloaded the link above,

in the first i thought it would work because i saw it had the config file etc. but after finishing downloading etc. the config file isnt there anymore.. so that's why people have the error that they can't start the ror configurator,

i hope my post is clear enough to understand? $:-\$
